Mission

Nurturing from the HeART (NFTH) offers expressive arts sessions to the most vulnerable people in our community. Using the arts as our tools (music, art, reading, writing, movement, theater, etc.) each session brings joy, comfort, education, exploration of inner self, and stress reduction to the participants. . NFTH offers a Lullaby Group (infants and caregivers connect), Rhythm and Rhyme Group (toddler through preschool and caregiver connect), Empowered Mom=Empowered Family (pregnant women including teen mom's group), and more.

Activities for Infants

1) Hide and Go Seek Baby!
2) Make a collage for your baby to look at!
3) Homemade pictures for your baby to see!

1) Hide and Go Seek Baby!

The fun of this activity is that you don't have to buy anything special, and you can change out the toys.  This activity grows with your baby as well.

2) Make a collage for your baby to look at!

I recommend for newborns using shapes and contrasting images.  For older babies use pictures of the family or things you would like your baby to see.  I made this collage for my daughter when she was 4 months old.  During tummy time I would put it in front of her and she really enjoyed looking at it.  I would also talk to her about all the pictures.

Develops vision, strength for tummy time use, and communication.

It is a piece of cardboard I bent so it would stand.  I chose family photos I printed from my home computer and for the other side I chose pictures from Google of babies smiling and people dancing.

3) Homemade pictures for baby to see!

After my baby shower I had a ton of cute bags left over that I couldn't bear to throw out.  Here is one idea to put them to good use:

Cut them out and hang them around the house for things for your baby to look at.  You can tape them to the side of your baby's swing as added stimulation, place them over the changing table, and hang them from door handles.  It's also a cute and cheap way to decorate!  I would place my baby's swing by the closet door and change out the bags so she had different things to look at.
