Mission

Nurturing from the HeART (NFTH) offers expressive arts sessions to the most vulnerable people in our community. Using the arts as our tools (music, art, reading, writing, movement, theater, etc.) each session brings joy, comfort, education, exploration of inner self, and stress reduction to the participants. . NFTH offers a Lullaby Group (infants and caregivers connect), Rhythm and Rhyme Group (toddler through preschool and caregiver connect), Empowered Mom=Empowered Family (pregnant women including teen mom's group), and more.

Activities for 3-5 year olds

1) Make an Aquarium
2) Eye Spy!
3) Make your own Magnets!
4) Hide and Seek Take 2!

Make an Aquarium!

Eye Spy!
Have your child (or you) pick out a few toys or items around the house and display them on the table.  Look over the items and discuss what they are.

Have your child close his eyes (no peeking!) and remove one of the items.

Now try to guess which one is missing!
"The number 3!"

Other ways to play:
"I spy with my little eye something with spots..."  "The giraffe! or Ladybug!"
"I spy with my little eye something that makes noise..."  "The rattle!"

Make your own Magnets!

You can get a magnet roll at any craft store (about $3) and cut it up to make your own magnets!  The roll is adhesive on one side but I recommend gluing it anyway for reinforcement.  I also recommend covering the pictures with contact paper so they don't rip.

The ideas for this are endless!

Picture ideas to use: your child’s drawings, magazines, used gift bags, newspapers, pictures of the family,  old valentines, scan in pictures from your child's favorite book and they can re-enact the book, coloring book pages, old puzzle pieces, small toys, different textures and shapes...

I used the refrigerator but another good idea is to spray paint an old cookie sheet and your child can take it anywhere!

Magnet taped to the back.

I used old Valentine's Day cards, an old bath toy (#3), and a puzzle piece from a lost puzzle (helicopter)

Hide and Seek Take 2!

Hide the different items in the box and have your child feel them and try to guess what they are!  So simple and so much fun!  Remember, no peeking!
